Humane California campaign -- poll from BayAreaVegOrg

Hi Everyone, I would like to suggest the following: a poll (on anonymous basis), which I think would be super helpful to the Humane California campaign, but also to the BayAreaVeg Community as a whole, to find out how many members of BayAreaVeg (assuming most people respond) have gathered signatures for the www.humanecalifornia.org campaign. Maybe we could responses be a little more detailed than a "yes" or "no" so that we could get an idea of how many signatures have been obtained from BayAreaVeg members? Having been modestly pounding the pavement (I feel I could always be doing more) for several weeks now, I would like to encourage absolutely everyone who is able to get out there, barring a legitimate reason such as being handicapped or sick or such, to go out there and approach people, strangers on the street, family, friends, co-workers, to sign this

petition. The problem of animals raised for human consumption is absolutely enormous and by not going out there to get signatures you are bypassing an opportunity to get this issue more in the face of people. To give you an idea of the enormity of issues facing farm animals, here is a link concerning rules & regulations put together by the people in charge of such things in the European Union. http://ec.europa.eu/food/animal/welfare/farm/index_en.htm As you can see this issue is a maze, a labyrynth of regulations, and bla bla bla. So, I assure you by helping to make the Humane California ballot initative become a voting matter in November 2008 you can really make a huge difference not only in CA but also in the US and it will catch the attention of the world. I just finished reading a book on the history of animal rights in US history, and it seems to me that we should have gotten more signatures for this current campaign, and if we have not, one reason is for lack of mobilization from animal rights activists across the board which historically has been a problem. Please sign up and sign people on. So please put on your sneakers, grab an umbrella, your hat, your dog, a friend, a fellow volunteer and please help to get signatures!! Thanks!
