The latest PBS pledge drive show called "Brain Fitness" was promoted by cruel law-breaking monkey and cat brain experimenters: http://www.positscience.com/PBS_Brain_Fitness/ Dr. Michael Merzenich was one of the Animal Welfare Act violators at UCSF. He was featured last night in the latest PBS pledge-drive show called "Brain Fitness." (He and others at UCSF have performed very cruel, unnecessary and invasive brain experiments on monkeys who were forced to

perform repetitive tasks while strapped onto restraint chairs, using food and fluid restriction to make them perform. Parts of their brains were intentionally cut up, damaged or removed.) Common sense tells us that all one needs to do to prevent brain aging is to exercise both mentally as well as physically, and stay healthy and happy, but this show makes a big deal out of nothing -- it suggests that people should practice mind exercises on computer programs which they sell. It was a really obvious (very poor, botched video quality, I might add) PR job that gets people to assume that these animal research charlatans are doing important work. PBS needs to get a dose of reality that they need to steer clear of various rich universities' cruel and useless basic animal experimenters. Please contact them if you have time. (Just

search KQED and PBS Ombudsman.) The following information shows how needless animal brain experiments are when we have better methods to study alert humans: http://www.pcrm.org/resch/anexp/beyond/monkey_0605.html I couldn't believe KQED actually had Dr. Merzenich talking throughout the entire pledge drive.

It's sickening. The hosts had no clue what sick things he and others that promoted that video did for a career. I am disappointed that KQED and PBS actually got suckered in by unethical people (from certain university departments) who think they are very brilliant and who are rich enough to actually go out and try to put a good show of themselves to the public through PBS. It's all about money. I have one message to these self-important people who may be lurking in our message boards: "You're not that smart, and you are certainly lack empathy for innocent creatures. Please get with the times."
