Guest guest
An SPCA volunteer recently trapped two young female kittens near a housing project in San Francisco. They went through the free SPCA "feral fix" program (which means they were examined by a vet, spayed, vaccinated and treated for fleas) a few days ago, and are now recovering from surgery. They are thought to be around 3 months old, possibly a bit older, but certainly young enough to be socialized so that they can then be adopted into good homes. The alternative is to put them back out where they were trapped, which would be a shame because they're so young. The problem is that there are never enough kitten/cat socializers, and, since we're nearing the end of kitten season, many of the volunteers who foster and socialize kittens starting in March (beginning of "kitten season") are at this point quite burned out; and we have not been able to find anyone willing to take in these two cute kittens to work with them. Could you help by socializing one or both? We could provide food, litter and hands-on training and advice on socializing. This is not usually a long-term project, as kittens pretty quickly learn that they can trust people. If you are able to help by socializing even for a few weeks, that would help too. Unfortunately, if we do not find someone to take them in within the next few days, we will have no other option than to put them back out with the other ferals in the colony. If you can help, even temporarily, or if you'd like more info, please call me (and leave a message if no answer). I only have access to email today and tomorrow during the day, so phone calls are better. Thank you!!!!
