Guest guest
There are some fabulous resources on the Internet. Rescuing an adult, mixed-breed dog from your local shelter means you are saving a precious life, avoiding Puppy House Destruction, avoiding the long list of health problems that inbred purebreds come with, and you're not supporting the purebred dog world (profit and cruelty over animals and kindness). My favorite is the new Dog Blog by Karen P. Today's entry is particularly poignant, about dogs in back yards: http://blog.helpinganimals.com/2007/10/out_of_sight_out_of_mind.php She also talks about communicating with your best friend, holistic treatments, etc. General doggie advice, from puppy house training to " speaking dog " to what to feed them: http://www.helpinganimals.com/animalsHome_dogs.asp Here's some more information about feeding dogs a vegan diet: http://www.helpinganimals.com/factsheetFactsheetDisplay.asp?ID=34 I have been feeding dogs vegan diets since 1997, as have most of my dog-loving friends. Dogs thrive on good healthy vegan food, love and affection, exercise and fresh air. If you have a friend or neighbor who is really stuck on a particular breed of dog, please encourage them to go to the breed rescue groups instead of breeders. There are rescue groups for dogs from chihuahuas to St. Bernards. JK Rowling, author of Harry Potter, just adopted an adult greyhound from a greyhound rescue group and the entire family is thrilled: http://blog.peta.org/archives/2007/10/jk_rowling_adop.php Check out the pictures on the Harry Potter page. Adorable! Alex
