Hi Mia,I think the best advice that I can give you is to not purchase this puppy and go save a life and adopt one from the shelter instead. Impulse purchases ("i have to pick up the puppy tomorrow or i'll miss the opportunity") can have disastrous consequences for animals.Sorry, I know this is not what you want to hear. Yes, this is a community of individuals who care for all animals, so much so that many of us do not believe that animals are ours to use or to treat as commodities, which includes breeding and selling them.

Perhaps I misread your post and you are not purchasing this puppy. I hope so.And, yes, dogs can be vegan. I have personal known several vegan dogs who are healthy and happy on vegan diets. There is commercially available vegan dog food available. Several individuals on this list can probably give better recommendations than I can. Thanks,Tammy

I agree with Tammy on this. The best place to get a dog is at a

shelter - the SPCA, Humane Society, or one of the many other dog

rescue groups. Right now, there are many wonderful dogs waiting for

homes. Why reward a breeder for bringing more dogs into the world

while so many are still homeless?

Other things to think about:

Consider a mixed breed dog. Instead of having a dog that looks like

a picture in a book, you could have a dog that looks like no other -

a true individual, one of a kind. Mixed breed dogs are often

healthier, too.

Consider an older dog. Puppies are so cute, but they are babies and

require lots of time and training. If you are gone at work all day,

the baby is left alone. An older dog will still require a period of

adjustment, but a puppy requires much more time.

Be sure your dog is spayed or neutered as early as possible to avoid

more overpopulation. PETA has an excellent campaign on this right

now. It's called ABC - Animal Birth Control. For more information,

go to http://www.peta.org/ and click on " PETA's New ABC Campaign " .
