Guest guest
Here is what they say at their website - http://www.ubuntunapa.com/ Chef Jeremy Fox states, " I'm very excited to have the chance to do something that hasn't been done before - this project has the distinction of being of a vegetable restaurant rather than a vegetarian restaurant. We're not offering a philosophy of " no meat, " rather, we are celebrating what comes from the gardens, what shows up at the door and our relationships with farms in Napa. " Our philosophy reflects an appreciation for all of the people in our community who contribute daily to producing the Ubuntu experience. Ubuntu features a delicious menu of daily-harvested organic food, with a focus on farm-fresh produce, much of it from our own biodynamic gardens. Ubuntu, briefly stated, is " humanity toward others " , which is the basis of this community-focused restaurant. Sounds innovative and looks and feels very upscale. The dinner and dessert menu indicates it is mostly lacto and ovo lacto veg but vegan items are clearly marked. It was dated August 28 so I would guess it fluctuates often if not daily. Consequently the vegan options would have to be carefully explored on each visit. The community table looks inviting and I hope to check it out at some point. It is also a yoga studio. Positioned as a posh dining experience in the heart of wine country it appears to offer its sustainability based philosophy with out dogma to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. At the same time such an attitude would seem to be willing to accommodate stricter dietary requests if presented in the spirit of the environment (unless the chef is fussy about changing his carefully crafted menu, as some are). If it is not listed in the Ultimate Guide by the time I try it I will post a listing with the details if it is appropriate. from the look of it it seems like it should be in there * Ubuntu Napa * 1140 Main Street Napa, CA 94558 * 707.251.5656 * Cuisine: Organic * Neighborhood: Napa * Price: $31 to $50 info Thursday - Saturday: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday - Wednesday: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thanks, Winnie - always fun to check out new options in the north bay where I live.
