Guest guest
1. Shangrila's owner, William returned by phone call in less than 3 minutes from his home yesterday. At 10pm, he confirmed there should be NO egg whites on the Pei Pa Tofu. Today at 12 noon, he called me to tell me the chef did NOT add any eggs to the Pei Pa Tofu. I informed him, he needs to tell ALL his waitresses to communicate the right info to the customer. I will also inform the owner, to keep an eye out on the chef that he doesn't sneak any eggs in the Pei Pa Tofu. (we all know you can add potatoes, starch, flax seeds, etc.. to make foods stick better) 2. Bok Choy Garden's owner, Ken, called me back on Monday, ON HIS DAY OFF. He said he'll look into BAVEG's posting to sort out what's going on. Today at 4pm, he left me a message that he's willing to take out the TOfu Cheese ball to make the entire menu vegan. At 8pm, I returned his call and I told him it's a good idea to make the entire restaurant vegan. Ken said he was ready to print NEW updated menu that did not claim it was a 100% vegan restauran. The new menu also comes with Chinese lettering. That project NEVER went thru cause the co-owners are not ready to spend money on new menus. Ken has always verbally told people the truth that the Tofu Cheese ball is not vegan. He's sorry, that the "old" format of the menu was not changed. In summary Bok Choy Garden is all vegan. Shangrila is vegan except for 3 dishes, which most of you all know already. Feel free to go meet them during time and have a "friendly" chat if you have any more questions. When you meet them, you can tell they will try 110% to help you out. == If someone can suggest, what can above restaurants can do, to say "sorry" or "oops", like a discount appetizer or something, I can pass the info to the owner so they won't loose their life-time "loyal" customers. It's good that they are willing to correct their mistakes right away. We need to help them to help us. Just think where will all newbie vegetarians go to try good veggie food:? We don't want all vegetarian restaurants go out of business and become hamburger joints serving hydrogenated french fries. That is is exactly what happened to Healthy Heavens in SF. (yes, their sushi was good) == my current goal is to get more veg restaurant owners to eat more of the food they MAKE which is veggie food. They admit working in a veg restaurant changed their diet. Let's hope some of them go 100% veg eventually. winnie sign, Sunny signature: My home and cell phone are working now. If you call me, please leave me a detail voice mail. Guest guest
Thanks for this thorough update and for making the calls. i was just having a conversation with someone the other day about how sometimes waiters/waitresses make assumptions about what is in the food -- some assume all pasta is egg noodles when it is really not. i know that at PF Chang's i have had the chef personally come out to straighten out what a wait staff has told me (btw, i just double checked the ingredients on their site and they state many of the veg items as have no animal products: http://www.pfchangs.com/cuisine/menu_main.aspx) i think it is always good to ask questions and emphasize you are vegan just so they know why you are there. lauren sunny outdoors <sunny_outdoors wrote: 1.
