Guest guest
ok, this is a mind blower Currently more restaurants are using cottonseed oil to " save $ " this include veg and non veg restaurants. here's the type of oil 3 veg restaurants are using Cha Ya SF (not sure about Berkeley)-Cottonseed Bok Choy-use hydrogenated oil for their FRIED FOOD, they are doing this ONLY because the fried goose will not fall apart (one lousy menu item dictates them to use this one oil) (Ken one of the owners want to change to the healtier oil, but the Chinese Chef-his brother in-law won't change it) Bok Choy-uses soy oil for their stir fry Layonna-reuse their fry-oil for stir fry. The chef told me he doesn't dump their used oil. Layonna only have business during weekend brunch, the rest of the week, they rarely have any customers. The above unhealthy oil/practices, I told the above owners/chefs to change their oil/practice but with no luck. I told them a while back. Pls help me make the change by encouraging the restaurants to switch to healthier oils. I do not have more info on other veg restaurants, pls post your findings. Cottonseed oil is not a healthy oil for consumption. The cotton plant has one of the highest GMO and pesticide plant around. YOu can't even buy cottonseed oil in a regular store. Walton, who donates his labor printing posters for a vegetarian group, said he gets sick when he's served with cottonseed oil. so, the lady who got sick at Shangrila, pls also check what oil they use. == Golden Era and Golden Era2 uses regular soy oil Good news, Golden Era2 now open 7 days a week. They are now open on Mondays. winnie
