Guest guest
Dear fellow animal free food lovers,My vegan life has been radically altered for the better as of this week. I have discovered the most amazing imitation cheese ever created. Sheese, a product manufactured in Scotland and only available in the UK until this past month is now being sold in one little small organic store on Polk street and Broadway called Real Food Company. The product comes in 13 different flavors and is unbelievably convincing. It had the same dense texture as cheese, the same sharp kick, and it melts and gets all creamy in your mouth. Ive given a few little pieces to my non vegan friends for verification and they were extremely impressed... only little pieces though, because as of now, the product sells for $9.00 a package in the states. Any business minded people want to contact the company and get a manufacturing house going over here? Ill do the marketing! Let me know what you guys think! Im tempted to have a wine and Sheese party very soon...-Joelle
Guest guest
Hi all You have GOT to try this. If giving up cow cheese is one of the things that's kept you from going vegan, you may find Sheese is your answer! It's stinky (like cheese) and the taste is incredible. That's one of the things that I dislike about the San Mateo Whole Foods. The smelly cheese dept is RIGHT by the produce. I wonder how much of that cheese is even vegetarian (i.e. since cheese is made using rennet, which comes from the lining of a dead baby calf). Anyways, I digress. There are actually two vegan cheezes made in Scotland, Sheese and Cheezly. I think Sheese is by far the best one. What's interesting, too, is that these vegan cheezes have been around in the UK for a long time and are only now making it over to the US. If you have friends/family visiting Europe, ask them to buy it and bring it back in their suitcase. Sheese says on their website that it doesn't require refrigeration if unopened. Joelle, thanks so much for this report! Real Food Company was already in the Guide and I've updated their description to include this food nugget. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=147 I'll also try to update our Guide News about this find over the weekend. http://www.bayareaveg.org/blog/ug Cheers, Tammy Bay Area Vegetarianswww.BayAreaVeg.org
