Guest guest
Last week, 8,546 copies of Vegan Outreach material were distributed at 11 events in eight cities across California by over nine individuals. See the list at the end of the email for the specifics. People respond to this literature in different ways. Some people go vegan immediately, having understood the connection between cruelty and the consumption of meat, dairy and eggs. Others may dismiss the pamphlet at first, but, over time, get the courage to face the reality of their support of these industries. Since the process takes time, we often do not receive immediate feedback from the people we are offering leaflets. Every once in a while, however, we reencounter people and they tell us how leafleting impacted them. This week, for example, at the Power to the Peaceful concert, a leafleter reported: “One person told me they had not eaten any meat since they got an EI at a recent A's game (they didn't even read it, just saw the cover).” And so it happens, bit by bit. As we educate people about the horrors of animal agriculture, we end the ignorance that makes it acceptable to turn a blind eye to the oppression of animals. There is no magic formula except for consistent, dedicated, kind effort by all who have already opted out to let people see for themselves what they already know: eating animals means killing animals and this is just plain wrong. I am leafleting throughout Northern California. If you would like to join this ongoing education effort, contact me and I'll let you know when I'll be in your area. Or, if you'd like to strike out on your own, contact me and I'll give you all the information you need to get started. I hope to hear from you; only when we all wield our personal power and speak up against oppression will there be meaningful change for the lives of non-human animals. Together, we can effect great change in this world in this lifetime. Thank you to the many people who chose to do this work this past week. This was a great week of outreach and through your efforts, thousands of people were given the chance to say “no” to the exploitation of animals.
