Guest guest
As Winnie reported to this list, Healthy Heavens at 5319 Geary Blvd in San Francisco has closed, but even better is Yummie House at 6903 Geary Blvd (cross street 33rd Ave.) It is new, unadvertised and largely unknown to the Vegetarian community. It is all Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. It looks like a sandwich shop but they have an incredible variety that would challenge most full scale restaurants: --32 Chinese dishes. (All Vegan) --6 noodle dishes. (All Vegan) --20 Smoothies. (all can be made with soy milk- Vegan) --12 fresh juice blends. (Vegan) --20 Slushies. (Icee) (Vegans might like " Hazelnut Milk Green Tea Slush " ) --26 different Tapioca milks and teas. (all can be made with soy milk- Vegan) --10 Crepes, 7 sweet, 3 savory. (not Vegan) --7+ Sundaes, Banana Splits, floats, milk shakes. (not vegan) --16 flavors of ice cream (Mitchells and Polly Ann half gallons.) (Non Vegan at this time but they are working on that.) Oh, and I almost forgot: --5 different sandwiches (Vegans just say hold the Mayo, add Mustard.) You can tell from the last few items on this list that the place can be very appealing to Children (veggie and non-veggi children alike). But the Chinese dishes are very satisfying to adult tastes. I really enjoyed a chicken curry dish and they obliged me quite well when I asked for it to be " Double Spicy " . I also like their Vegan Chicken sandwich when I'm in a hurry. This is an ideal location to include on a weekend outing to the beach or hiking Point Lobos and the Sutro ruins, or marveling at the tourists at the Cliff House or gawking at the art at the Palace of the Legion of Honor. It's also a great stop on the way to music events in Golden Gate Park (just four blocks away): Pick up your veggie sandwiches, throw them in backpack, then boogie on down. Their prices are very reasonable: Sandwiches: most $3.99. Fish Fillet sandwich: $4.99, Chinese dishes: $4.50-5.99. Perhaps we can have an official outing with lunch there, then walking on the beach, or kite-flying, or if you prefer, napping in the hot sun listening to the waves. (Does anyone have a Volleyball Net?) Here are their hours and complete contact info: Mon-Sat 10am – 9pm Sun 12:30pm-6pm 6903 Geary Blvd., SF CA 94121 415.933.8938 yummiehouse PS: Healthy Heaven was very small. Yummi House is much larger and can hold about 15-20 people
Guest guest
Thanks Art. I've added them to the guide. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=802 Why don't you be the first to give them a glowing review, or if you'd like to organize a BAVeg group event there drop Tammy or I an email. Cheers Chris
