California leafleting report

This past week, 27,160 copies of Vegan Outreach material were distributed at 9

events across California. Five schools and three concerts in seven different

cities were covered by fifteen individuals. See the list at the end of the email

for the specifics. This was a particularly good week, as the large punk megashow

Warped Tour played four dates in California, all of which were leafleted.

Several schools started as well; students are most receptive at the start of the

school year and so this is the best time to leaflet to this important audience.

Reaching people individually in this way may seem slow, inefficient and

unglamorous, but it is through our steady commitment to educating

everyone we meet about the realities of the dairy, egg and meat

industries that we reduce the demand for these inherently cruel

products and move to a world where exploiting other sentient beings is

unacceptable.

As usual, there were many great moments of outreach. Yesterday, for example,

while leafleting at UC Berkeley, I spoke with a man who said he went veg after

receiving Vegan Outreach literature on campus. Or the many young adults at the

Sacramento stop of Warped Tour who incredulously watched factory

farm/slaughterhouse footage on the portable DVD player and wanted more

information on how they could go vegan to stop participating in the cruelty they

witnessed. Or the three young adults in Fresno who wanted to find out how they

could be active in educating others about the horrors of human exploitation of

animals.

I am leafleting throughout Northern California. If you would like to join this

ongoing education effort, contact me and I'll let you know when I'll be in your

area. Or, if you'd like to strike out on your own, contact me and I'll give you

all the information you need to get started. I hope to hear from you; only when

we all wield our personal power and speak up against oppression will there be

meaningful change for the lives of non-human animals. Together, we can effect

great change in this world in this lifetime.

A big thank you to the many people who chose to do this work this week. We

reached a lot of individuals and it was only possible through your dedicated

efforts.
