Guest guest
This is pretty minor... but I was reading this local organic dairy farms' Q & As and they falsely state that there are no local farm animal rescue groups, so they must sell off their spent cows: http://www.strausfamilycreamery.com/?id=45 " What happens to your cows when they are no longer producing milk? When a cow no longer produces milk it is sold to a local auction house, where she is most probably headed for beef production. A cow eats 90 pounds of food a day and drinks 25-50 gallons of water a day. Though it would be nice to be able to keep them all, it would be financially unfeasible to keep a cow on a dairy until it has lived its full natural life. In the last 20 years, we know of only one `rescue' farm in the country for farm animals, but it was closed due to lack of funds. " I sent them a message at their contact form http://www.strausfamilycreamery.com/?section=Contact%20Us telling them about Animal Place and Farm Sanctuary, as well as explaining some of the horrors their cows face when they are auctioned off.
