Guest guest
Hi folks HMB news: If you've ever been to New Leaf market in Santa Cruz, you know it's a wonderful vegan-friendly/natural foods grocery store ... and it's coming to HMB! Very excited to see that. http://www.halfmoonbayreview.com/articles/2007/08/02/news/breaking_news/story4.txt Some other miscellaneous info about vegan food in Montara, a small coastside town, population approx. 1200 according to the Highway sig 1) Montara Bistro, has an owner/chef - staff who was vegan-friendly. There are actually a few items on the menu that are vegan. It's a small restaurant, but very nice - table cloths, water goblets, cloth napkins and an impressive ocean view. Note, the menu is also small, but if you're driving by or just unexpectedly find yourself hungry and in this area, check it out. We were impressed when they offered us tempeh as an option for the salad. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=798 On the day we want, the soup was a mushroom soup, but with a fancier name than that!, and finished with brandy -- (which I don't drink, so not sure if it is refined with animal ingredients like some beer + wines ) So it was definitely veg, maybe vegan depending on the alcohol. 2) Also in the "restaurant row" for Montara - Fog City Pizza and Indian Food, another cozy (i.e. small) restaurant with a few veg Indian entrees that can be made vegan, as well as vegetarian and cheeseless pizza. They don't use ghee. Seating is limited and overlooks the ocean. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=642 Of course, Montara restaurant dining does not compare to eating at one of the many entirely vegetarian & vegan restaurants in the Bay Area (over 90). But if you live in the area (like I do) or are visiting, at least you have a couple of options. Always interested in meeting other veg coastsiders - so if you're out there, and haven't made it to any local events yet, please drop me a line and say hi. Additionally, there's a Vegan Food Party planned for Pacifica on 9/22. Details are on website event calendar at http://bayareaveg.org/events Cheers, Tammy Bay Area Vegetarianswww.BayAreaVeg.org
