Guest guest
Six years ago, Chris and I started Bay Area Vegetarians. One of the reasons was simply because we wanted to meet more like-minded people. And that continues to be one of the core reasons for Bay Area Vegetarians -- to support and connect the veg community. So this 4th of July, come on out to Montara State Beach and share good vegan food & fellowship with like-minded folks. We will picnic on the beautiful, clean sandy Montara State Beach, enjoying fresh ocean breezes and admiring the surf . If you've never been to a Vegan Food Party, then make this your first one! If you've been to several, then come again to this one! The basic concept is that everyone makes a yummy vegan dish to share. It's a super opportunity to 'animal test' new vegan recipes on willing volunteers, and to try a variety of dishes. Please see the link below for details on what to bring. http://bayareaveg.org/vfpdetails.htm What: Sand-n-Surf Vegan Food Party!Where: Montara State Beach When: 7/4/07 Wednesday, 1:00 pmHost: Tammy & Chris [ http://www.bayareaveg.org/rsvp.htm?id=1125 ]Full Details: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php?EID=1125#1125 Location/DirectionsMontara State Beach - On the San Francisco Peninsula in San Mateo County, approx. 20 miles south of San Francisco. The beach is located eight miles north of Half Moon Bay on Highway One. You can also do a google map search on "Montara State Beach, CA" There are two beach access points from the bluff area. One access is across from Second Street, immediately south of the Outrigger restaurant. The second access is located about a half-mile north on the ocean side of Highway 1. The paths down to the beach are steep Use the access by the restaurant (it's a staircase, about 25 steps down to the ocean level). Then look for our green/white canopy with the Bay Area Vegetarians sign. We are especially happy to host the picnic this year since last year (for four long, agonizing months), Highway 1 was closed, which meant both Pacifica and Montara were separated, each basically becoming a huge cul-de-sac. Would be lovely to have 1 or 2 people who can arrive at 12:30 pm and help us set up the canopy, etc. Looking forward to seeing you all there!Tammy & Chris People often say that humans have always eaten animals, as if this is a justification for continuing the practice. According to this logic, we should not try to prevent people from murdering other people, since this has also been done since the earliest of times. - Isaac Bashevis Singer Volunteer this Summer with BAVeg! Guest guest
Hi. Is anyone going to Tammy and Chris' VFP from somewhere around Oakland, San Leandro or Hayward? I'm thinking of going but my car's not functioning very well these days. Please email me at rachelseligm if you might be able to carpool. Thanks, Rachel
