room available in vegan oakland loft

hello - this may be of interest to those on the list who are currently

home-hunting...we will begin showing the space and meeting potential

housemates this coming week, so please respond soon if interested.

 

about the space: a 1400-sq ft loft space in an oakland warehouse-style

building, located right off of I-880 and across from alameda via the

park street bridge, close to fruitvale bart. an albertson's and some

other stores are two minutes away, and trader joes and other stores

are easily accessed on alameda. the loft features an open-style

kitchen, decent sized bathroom, freshly-painted colorful walls. the

available room has a skylight and a built in loft that could be used

for a bed or workspace, or removed if you like. the space gets great

morning sun exposure, perfect for basking in the sun while doing yoga,

meditating, etc. laundry facilities are on-site, on the first floor.

there is a huge freight elevator for moving stuff in here.

 

about us: we are a couple who have been together nearly five years -

we get along well (no fights, drama, etc.) and have lived together for

quite a while. josh is a musician who plays guitar and produces

electronic music. he works many hours a day on his music, so we need

to share the space w/ someone who is understanding of this. we will be

soundproofing the music studio room to minimize all noise. i am a grad

student at cal, as well as a reiki pracitioner and aspiring vegan chef

and novice seamstress. we are both easy-going to live with, we're not

anal neat-freaks but we are also quite respectful of shared common

spaces and always like to keep a clean kitchen.

 

speaking of the kitchen...we are both vegan and would prefer to

maintain a vegan/vegetarian household. we have tons of kitchen stuff

for communal use, including unlimited access to spices (my mom works

for a spice company). i bake at least once or twice a week and cook

regularly as well so there are always plenty of vegan treats around.

 

about you: we are really looking for the right person to share our

space with us...someone who is engaged in some sort of spiritual or

creative endeavors, whether it be art, healing, meditation, yoga, or

some other activity. you must not be too sensitive to noise...in

addition to music being made here, we are right by a train line, so we

do occasionally hear a freight go by (generally the trains are just

quick amtrak trains that whiz by). unfortunately, we cannot

accommodate another musician at this time. we are both using the space

for classes and lessons of different sorts (music/production classes,

reiki healing sessions, cooking classes) and we would love a housemate

who also seeks a place to offer their services, whatever they may be.

 

ideally, you have a car that you are OK parking on the street (parking

is plentiful, including some off-street spaces in front of the

building) or you bike as your primary transportation (you can easily

bike to the bart in less than five minutes, it is also easy to bike to

alameda, as well as other parts of oakland and berkeley).

 

rent is 600/month. utilities will be split three ways - pg & e and

internet (water and garbage are included). we would be happy to let

your cat move in as well if you have one, you would just take on

responsibility for the pet deposit.

 

we are really looking for the right person to occupy the extra space

here, so we are keeping the move-in date flexible, anytime throughout

the summer. if you are interested, please send a detailed e-mail
