Guest guest
Right on the front page of the Food & Wine section for the Contra Costa Times is a photo of the much-acclaimed vegan donuts from People's Donuts, which are made at Eclair Pastries in Berkeley. The two photos/article take up most of the front page. The article talks quite abit about vegan baking (locally) and also quotes Isa Chandra Moskowitz, author of "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World". You can read the full article here: http://contracostatimes.com/search/ci_5966341 Also nice to see that they included a definition of veganism with the correct pronounciation (for those of us who do not hail from Las Vegas or the distant planet Vega) A vegan (pronounced, VEE-gn) avoids all animal meat, chicken and fish as well as eggs, animal milks, honey and their derivatives. But veganism also denotes "a philosophy and way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, nonhuman animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, nonhumans and the environment," according to one description in the Vegan Voice, a magazine devoted to the lifestyle. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages. - Thomas Edison Volunteer this Summer with BAVeg!
