Guest guest
Within a month, a trailer park in the South Bay is going to be demolished. This is a place that has had cats (socialized and feral) for many years; three years ago all of the cats were spayed or neutered, thanks to the efforts of an SPCA Feral Fix volunteer and several of the residents of the trailer park. Now we are faced with the difficult situation of finding homes (temporary or permanent) for the five cats that will be left when all the residents have gone, as well as possibly trying to relocate about five feral cats who also live there. Three of the cats are from the same family: Precious, the mom, a little gray and white cat, is VERY attached to her son Albert, a beautiful, friendly, black and white fluffy cat. Albert is probably very adoptable, but his mom is shy, so therefore not so adoptable. We would really like to keep them together if at all possible. Blackie, Precious' daughter, is black and pretty friendly. She is not particularly attached to the other cats, and usually hangs out around the trailer of two women who are still living at the park. Ashley is a young (maybe a year old) cute, playful black cat who is somewhat shy with strangers, but very friendly to the people she knows. The fifth cat is an older orange tabby who doesn't particularly like other cats, according to the people who originally had her, but undoubtedly is fine with people. Can you help? The five cats need to be taken away from the trailer park well before it closes on June 22, and we would love to be able to get them into at least temporary foster homes, to give them time to adjust and to settle in, so that we can evaluate them and see if they would be OK as indoor cats. Of course, if you have a permanent, safe situation where they could be indoor/outdoor cats, that would be wonderful!! If you have an idea of where any of the feral cats could be safely relocated to (your backyard?), please let me know. We could provide all food and would cover vet bills while they're in foster homes. If you think you might be able to help, or if you'd like more information, please contact Nadine at (415) 221-3618 or (415) 846-1362, or email me at nmaysf. (If there's no answer, please leave a message at either number.) THANKS!
