Guest guest
Hi All, Is there anybody out there that knows where I can purchase a vegan REALLY GOOD drain cleaner. The ones from Whole foods do nothing for my 50+ year old plumbing!! If you I have to order it I will, but it has to work like that awful drano stuff. I'm desperate! Thanks! Guest guest
Jamie,I have had very little luck with "green" drain openers. I've tried everything at Rainbow and have had to finally use horrible Draino. Maybe using snakes or plungers is an option. Keep me posted if you come up with a good product.Best,Wickie Check us out at: http://www.headswillroll.net
Guest guest
I have had moderate success with an old tried and true remedy using baking soda and vinegar. It has worked on modest hair plug-ups and most slow drains. Some times you have to do it more than once but it is eco friendly and non toxic. You pack the drain with baking soda. If you don't have an open drain hole then use an old chopstick to work the baking soda in. Fill it with as much soda as you can. Have the vinegar ready (any cheap white vinegar is fine) and a plug or something you can stop up the top of the drain with. When you pour the vinegar it it will start to fizz and bubble. By covering it right away you force that action down the drain to where the clog is. Keep pouring vinegar in doses until the fizzing stops. Let it set for about 5 minutes or so. If the drain is starting to empty then run some hot water and perhaps give it a few pumps with a plunger to push out the loosened clog. This is a good preventative measure to use whenever you notice your drain slowing down (before it is completely clogged. It doesn't hurt your pipes, etc. You can use rubber gloves if you want (I haven't to no ill effect) since you are creating a caustic effect. It is like a fun chemistry experiment at school. Just if plunging be sure not to let it splash into your eyes.
