Guest guest
I'm looking for vegan, holistic remedies to migraines. I hate taking aspirin and ibuprofen, but I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

The herb feverfew is said to help with migraines, if you take it on a regular basis. (In other words, it doesn't work as a painkiller or for when the attack is in progress.) I've never had any luck with it, but the Wikipedia article on feverfew claims that there's some positive research in favor of using the herb. Try it and see if it works for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feverfew or if you have a Consumer Labs subscription, they have an even better article: http://www.consumerlab.com/tnp.asp?chunkiid=21713 & docid=/tnp/pg000551#P2 Strangely enough, salt (about 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon at the onset of a migraine) also helps a lot of people, including me. Caffeine taken at the right time also helps. Lately I've had good luck with caffeine + salt + 1200mg ibuprofen. When that fails, I recommend the fetal position and a dark room, both of which are vegan.
