Guest guest
Hello, I want to introduce a new farmed animal shelter in the Bay Area and to invite animal lovers to find out more about what we're doing. Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary is comprised of 2 1/2 acres of farmland in the Stockton/Tracy area and is inhabited by 70+ rabbits, a pony, a sheep, two goats, a pig, four dozen chickens, roosters, and ducks, as well as a handful of cats and dogs. Harvest Home was formed to aid homeless and abused domestic and farmed animals in the San Francisco Bay Area and the San Joaquin valley. We assist local humane societies and rescue groups with animals-primarily farmed animals-who, due to their breed, their health, or their personality, cannot be adopted into permanent homes. Our mission is to provide life-long care for these animals, and to educate the public about humane animal care and practices. We rehabilitate, both physically and psychologically, mistreated animals and, if possible, we will find appropriate homes for them. In an effort to prevent further cruelty to these animals, we educate the public on caring for companion animals as well as on issues concerning farmed animals. Harvest Home is also an official sanctuary for House Rabbit Society. Our website is www.harvesthomeanimal.org and we have a (harvesthomeanimal- ) as well as a blog (http://www.harvesthomeanimal.org/blog/) to keep folks informed about our activities. We have just started holding volunteer work days in conjunction with East Bay Animal Advocates (http://www.eastbayanimaladvocates.org/). We have selected the second Saturday of every month as volunteer days here and we are hoping for good turnouts. We would love to have animal lovers from throughout the Bay Area and San Joaquin valley join us! Our volunteer dates are: Saturday, May 12, 2007 Saturday, June 9, 2007 Saturday, July 14, 2007 Saturday, August 11, 2007 Saturday, September 8, 2007 Saturday, October 13, 2007 Saturday, November 10, 2007 Saturday, December 8, 2007 Thank you all so much, Margo DeMello margo Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary www.harvesthomeanimal.org 209-465-2985
