Yes, The China Study is the next book selected for the veg/ar book club. Discussion date is Sunday 5/6, see link below for details

I am not sure of the folks joining us for the discussion who is aspiring veg*n, vegetarian, or vegan, but would be interesting to understand if learning about how eating dairy is so related to cancer (for men and women) have inspired them to make any changes. I know for myself that when I decided to become vegan, that I initially missed cheese more than meat (perhaps due to those addictive qualities of milk, as Barnard explained in The Food Seduction ... yet another good book -- no shortage of material for the book club!)

It's quite ironic, actually, that we're having the discussion on The China Study at MaggieMudd's .... while vegan, it's not exactly whole foods but it's yummy & great example of vegan ice cream! My favorites are the shakes -- maximum taste, least effort to eat.

Anyways, for anyone interested in the book club, currently we have 10 people RSVP'ed, but there's always no-shows so if one or two more people want to join us, that should be fine. Just email me. We've already chosen our book for July, Free the Animals by Ingrid Newkirk. We'll be discussing future books at the next meeting, too.

One of the reasons why I like the veg/ar book club, it's got me reading books that have long sat on my shelf, neglected, and which continue to give me great reasons/inspiration for veganism.

Cheers,

Tammy
