Guest guest
Mike has some good advice. Learning to live with other species is always better than killing them. Where I used to live the woman had a ground wasp nest destroyed. The wasp " killers " put on a bee suit and stuck a stick into the nest and churned it until it was destroyed. Wasp are very colony oriented and, with their nest gone, the ones that survived looked very disoriented, like they were drunk, as they stumbled around on the ground and the deck. They all seemed to die within a few days of losing their nest. Be aware that as wasps begin to die out in the Fall they become much more sensitive and will feel threatened by what previously they did not considered disturbances. The vibrations of a dog barking or feet pounding on the ground can now provoke an attack. I have been stung a few times while running in Edgewood park in the fall and have learned to adjust my running schedule & route when the wasps are dying out.
