Hello Yvonne,

You're really a heroine to hang in there with this challenging cat. A cat who has been declawed should not be an outdoor cat, because he will be defenseless outside. Have you tried the two-litterbox solution suggested by another poster? It may be that this cat wants his pee and poo functions to be separated.

A cat behaviorist is a constructive idea, too. Many years ago I had a telephone consultation with Kate Gamble of San Francisco to deal with two cats who were not getting along with one another. I found her to be very helpful. I no longer have her contact information, but if she is still doing this work, she should be "google-able" (or use www.goodsearch.com, which will make a donation to animal friendly organizations of your choice). Your vet or the SPCA might also be able to give you names of reliable cat behaviorists. Good luck!

Best wishes, Bonnie Knight, San FranciscoAOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.
