I had lunch at Vegi Garden in Sunnyvale for the first time today and thought I'd share. This is a new all vegetarian chinese restaurant with lots of vegan options.

The place has been open for about a month and has one of the biggest menus I think I've ever seen. It has close to 200 items listed, with most dishes containing some sort of fake meat, which isn't to my liking but lots of people seem too. I had a hard time picking a simple veggie dish but wasn't disappointed with my selection. Service was friendly and prompt and they were more than happy to recommend things and help me spend my money.

They told me brown rice was available, but when my food arrived they said it wasn't ready and offered white rice instead. That's one thing I like about Garden Fresh up the street, is that brown rice is always available and is the default on all orders.

There is eggs and dairy in some dishes, but they clearly mark them on the menu. However, you may also want to ask on how vegan friendly the fake meats are as there's no indication if they're vegan or not and I didn't ask.

The restuarant space is very large but welcoming, with lots of big round tables, so it would be perfect for a group event or a family get together.

Right now they do not have lunch specials, so it's hard for them to compete with some of the other local veggie places in Mountain View and Sunnyvale, but even so they were almost two thirds full by the time I left at 12:45.

They're currently offering a 10% discount to new customers through the end of the month.

It's located in the back corner of the strip mall on Bernardo and El Camino, and right next to the Safeway.
