Guest guest
Dear Animal Advocates, Companions, Lovers, Liberators and Vigilers! The next vigil on behalf of animals incarcerated and exploited in laboratory experiments at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) will be held on the third Thursday of the month (as usual) - March 15, 4:30 PM (till about 6 PM) at UCSF's Parnassus Campus - that is 513 Parnassus Avenue in San Francisco. (Please see information on public transportation to UCSF below.) Note Regarding Public Transportation: If you would like to take public transportation to UCSF, the San Francisco Muni buses #6 and #43 both go right by the vigil's venue on Parnassus Avenue; also you can take the N-Judah streetcar, get off at Carl & Arguello streets, and take the elevator (going up) within the UCSF facility to get to Parnassus Avenue. If you are coming from the East Bay, you can take BART, get off at any stop between Embarcadero and Civic Center in San Francisco, and then take an N-Judah streetcar going outbound (and follow directions above regarding N-Judah streetcar). Update on Yogi: The monkey called Yogi (at UCSF) will probably be transported to Mindy's Memory Primate Sanctuary in April - after his hair has grown back over the scars left from the head plate that was surgically removed forever from his head. Never again will he have to carry that extra weight on his brain and mind. One can only imagine the pain - both mental and physical - he endured over the years that he was a subject of brain-mapping experiments devised by Dr. Stephen Lisberger, of UCSF. More on his and the3 other monkeys' trials and tribulation in a later update. Many thanks to all who have given monetary support to Mindy's Memory Primate Sanctuary. It will certainly help in the construction of a new enclosure for Yogi at the sanctuary. Also many thanks to any who gave Vigil for Animals support over the past few months. Thanks to you, Vigil for Animals entered the Year of the Boar nearly $190 in the black. The Year of the Dog took its toll on expenses so much we were operating in the red for much of that year. And last but not least, please remember to be kind to yourself, as well as other animals. Hope to see you at the vigil - take care!
