Guest guest
Fellow " animal people " -- Please read this and forward it to anyone who might be able to help. It is unfortunately somewhat urgent at this point. My friend Mary is desperately looking for a temporary or permanent place for Sylvester, a feral cat who appeared in her back yard (in San Francisco) one day. She managed to trap him and take him to the vet for a checkup. The vet diagnosed him with early renal problems, and prescribed a special diet for him. Since then he's been fixed and vaccinated, and has been living in a large cage in Mary's basement. Sylvester is FIV negative and seems to have no problem being around other cats. He eats well, and seems to be doing well, but is very anxious to get out of the cage. Mary does not want to release him back to her yard, because she feeds other feral cats there, and it's unlikely Sylvester would be able to eat the specific food he needs. She is afraid he will simply run away and she'll never know what happened to him. Mary may be moving to a larger place where she could keep him indoors, but that would not happen for at least a few months. Would you have space in your house for Sylvester. at least temporarily? Mary is willing to pay for all food and litter, and if he does need to be seen by the vet again, we could take care of that too. We could also pay something extra each month if necessary. If you think you might be able to take this cat in, even just for a month or two, or would like more information, please call me at 415/743-2433 (work) and leave me a message if there's no answer. You can also email me at nmay (I don't check email Saturday-Monday). If you cannot help, can you please forward this email to any family or friends who might possibly be able to help? Sylvester and Mary would very much appreciate it! Thank you!! Nadine
