Guest guest
Lunardi's Abuse San Jose Demonstrations This Sunday On Sunday, February 25th, East Bay Animal Advocates (EBAA) will ask Lunardi's Supermarket to stop selling eggs from chickens raised in overcrowded, wire cages (known as battery cages). Date: Sunday, February 11th Times & Places: Noon - 1:00 PM: Lunardi's Evergreen: 4055 Evergreen Village Sq, San Jose 1:30 - 2:30 PM: Lunardi's San Jose: 4650 Meridian Ave, San Jose As a high-end grocery chain, Lunardi's proclaims its purported commitment to excellence: " We can explain our prices, but we don't ever want to have to justify our quality. " Recently, EBAA documented conditions at one of Lunardi's egg suppliers. Shockingly, Lunardi's still sells eggs from chickens confined in overcrowded, wire cages. Citing concerns over animal care, EBAA has contacted Lunardi’s many times without a single response. Moreover, Lunardi's is the lead competitor of Andronico's Market, which stopped selling battery cage eggs in October 2006.
