Guest guest
The short and sweet of it is, Scott, Paula, Alex and Sue (me) distributed over 1850 Why Vegan, Even If You Like Meat, and Vegetarian Starter Kits in just under three hours today at San Jose State University. An incredibly satisfying day. Met many " already veg " folks. Great work and many thanks to Scott and Paula (aka " Who can say 'no' to their grandmother? " ) who took time out to fit this in. A few raindrops in the beginning, but mostly sunny. Reminder: Leafleting at San Francisco State University this coming Tuesday, February 27th. Meeting at 11:30 at the ATM machines outside the Student Union. Rain or shine!! Leaflet's provided or bring your own if you have them. Helpful if you can bring a bookbag as they can go really fast and it's such a bummer if you run out when classes change ;-) Please RSVP, thanks. Another event planned for Thursday, March 1st " First Thursday Galleries " in San Francisco, meeting at 5pm at Montgomery Street Bart Station on Market. Rain or shine, leaflets provided, blah, blah. If you've been putting off leafleting, go here: http://www.goveg.com/factoryFarming.asp Hope you can join us!
Guest guest
I have to repeat my earlier advice: If Sue Rattenbury organizes a leafleting event, go! Today was really, really fun--it was an amazing feeling to walk away from campus seeing kids reading the leaflets, and carrying empty boxes. So much was achieved in such a short time. Sue organized everything perfectly, including the weather--she made it stop raining when we started, and then she allowed the rain to come back as we drove away from San Jose. Nice touch, Rattenbury. I really enjoyed the camaraderie, and the chance to both walk away and leaflet at my own (very special) spot but come back every once in a while to see how everyone else was doing and get re-energized. I have to say that not only were more kids receptive than ever before, but I had more " No thanks, I'm already vegan " responses than ever before! Lunch afterwards was really nice, a chance to toast our success and get to know Scott and rest our feet after a job well done. I think my favorite leafleting experience is when someone walks by, says no, then turns around and says, " You know what? I will take that. " Happens every time at least twice. One complaint: I left my carrot cake muffins in Sue's car and now she gets them all.
