Guest guest
I to Senator Barbara Boxer's email alerts. In the last couple of weeks she has sent out two emails, the first about cancer's decline and the second about cardiovascular disease in women. Unfortunately she doesn't appear to post these messages on here web site; otherwise I'd point you to the content. I sent her a response to both emails talking about the benefits of an animal-free diet. Maybe you'd like to do the same. I've included my response and her original email below as an example. Another thing about that few people realize about CVD is that is it very easy to significantly reduce the risk from this disease simply by reducing or eliminating animal products from your diet. John Robbins, a constituent of yours living in Santa Cruz, has written several books on the subject that are based on legitimate scientific facts and studies. I highly recommend you or one of your staff read his book " Diet for a New America " to find out more: http://www.amazon.com/Diet-New-America-Choices- Happiness/dp/0915811812/ Also for more infomation, go here. http://www.pcrm.org/health/prevmed/chol_heartdisease.html ----- Forwarded Message ---- U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer <bulletinfeedback davidcortright Wednesday, January 31, 2007 3:53:27 AM Senator Boxer: Go Red for Women Dear Friend: Too few people realize that heart and cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of American women -- and men. But the good news is that it can largely be prevented with simple changes in diet and lifestyle. On Friday, February 2, women and men across America will wear red as a reminder of these facts. Go Red For Women is designed to give women the knowledge and tools they need to reduce their risks of heart disease and stroke and protect their health. Only about 13 percent of women identify heart and cardiovascular disease as their top health threat. Below, I have provided a list of the most important facts about heart and cardiovascular disease. I hope you will take a moment to review this list and that you will check out www.goredforwomen.org to learn more about heart disease and the ways you can protect yourself. I also encourage you to be part of the Go Red For Women team on February 2, 2007. By wearing red, you will help raise awareness about heart and cardiovascular disease. Sincerely, Barbara Boxer United States Senator Some Facts About Heart Disease from the American Heart Association: - Only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat, even though it's women's No. 1 killer. - Cardiovascular disease (CVD) kills over 480,000 women a year, about one per minute. - One in three adult females and males in the United States suffers from a form of CVD. - CVD claims more lives than the next four most common causes of death combined. - On average, an American dies of CVD every 35 seconds. - Coronary heart disease is the No. 1 single killer of women over age 25. - Sixty-four percent of women who died suddenly of coronary heart disease had no previous symptoms. - One in 2.6 female deaths are from CVD, compared with one in 30 from breast cancer. - Heart disease rates in post-menopausal women are two to three times higher than in pre-menopausal women of the same age. - Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death for American women and is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability. - Stroke kills more women than men. In 2003, females represented 61 percent of stroke deaths. ================================================ If this message reached you in error, or if you would like to cancel your subscription, please reply to this message with " " in the subject line.
