Bay Area Vegetarians announces a new program of events: Singles Veg

Leafleting. These events are for anyone interested in meeting new

veg*n friends: Women, men, straight, gay, any age, almost-veg, veg,

or vegan (yes, it's OK if you're not veg, as long as you are open to

and interested in vegetarianism).

The first event will be Tuesday night, February 13th--the night before

Valentine's Day. You might meet someone and make a date for the next

night!

February is all about Valentine's Day, and Valentine's Day is all

about love, romance and hearts (and mass consumerism, but we'll ignore

that for now).

The healthiest hearts are vegan hearts, right? Right.

And when it comes to love and romance, well...a vegan diet helps in

that department as well:

(that's a great website to forward to your non-veg friends and

family, by the way--guaranteed to start some conversations)

We'll leaflet for 30 short minutes, then eat. If you've never

leafleted before, you can just watch and see how it goes. I think

you'll be surprised at how fun and easy it is. It's also a great way

to get to know your fellow veg*ns, because everyone has their own

style of leafleting and it all works. I love leafleting with friends

and then relaxing over a meal, to celebrate all the leaflets given

away (all the new vegetarians just created!), laugh over some of the

people we saw, and compare notes about different things to try.

>> Meet at the SW corner of Mission and 16th (BART station).

>> 5:30 p.m. Tuesday February 13th.

>> Dress comfortably--we'll walk six easy blocks to Herbivore at

>> Valencia and 21st, leafleting as we go. I will have Spanish

>> Vegetarian Starter Kits as well as English.

>> Dinner at 6-6:15, and you _must_ RSVP so that I can make the correct

>> reservation.

>> *After dinner it's an easy walk back to Mission and 16th or Mission

>> and 24th. If people are up to it, we can stop by Amnesia on the way

>> back for a beer or sparkling cider.

>> *There's also a cheap and convenient parking garage at 21st and

>> Valencia, so you could park there, walk back to 16th and Mission, and

>> have your car waiting after dinner.

>> *Please bring cash for your share of the dinner bill--it's much

>> easier if the restaurant can give us a bill for the entire table.

>> *If you can only do the leafleting, that's OK, but we'll miss your

>> camaraderie at dinner. If you can't do the leafleting, I hope you

>> will join us another time--*this dinner is just for leafleters!*

>>

>> Thanks!
