It's called Viva Herbal and it's on the lower east side. lots of NYU students hang out there cause their dorms are nearby and that particular area also has a lot of vegetarina indian restaurants. it's between 11th and 12th street, when you see the movie theater on the corner just keep walking down. here is a link to it. http://www.healthylivingnyc.com/find-it/business/88/4 also, angelicas kitchen a vegan restaurant is nearby, a believe two blocks up. Their fresh juices are really good. if you want vegan restaurants in the uptown area, just do a search for Zen Palate. they have a few restaruants, they are budhist and they are awseome. Guest guest
Hi folks Well, after all the rave reviews about the Bay Area's only all veg pizzeria, I finally trekked over the bridge and tried Pizza Plaza for myself. I know people really love the vegan cheeze, all the varieties of pizza toppings, just being able to have a pizza shop without any meat at all, AND the fact that the owner converted it from a mixed restaurant to an all veg one .. And I felt the same way. The number of choices for vegan pizza were amazing. AND, you can even purchase vegan pizza by the slice or a smaller personal pizza. There are also other non-pizza items available, like lasagna. Tried four different pizza flavors and the ones that I liked the best was the vegan pesto with veggies and the greek goddess. You can read more about Pizza Plaza and other reviews in the Ultimate Guide http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=579 For those who want a more convenient way to have a vegan cheeze pizza (without making it yourself), Amy's Kitchen (which produces only vegetarian foods) has recently introduced a Rice Crust Spinach Pizza - "Light tender rice crust topped with organic spinach and dairy-free, soy-based mozzarella and ricotta cheezes, and of course Amy's authentic Italian pizza sauce made with organic sun-ripened tomatoes and our special blend of herbs". I'm not particularly crazy about the rice crust, but it's nice to see a pizza with vegan cheeze being produced. Cheers, Tammy __ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
