Guest guest
It is very symbolic that Milo Foundation took over a location that was a pet store, but now they are being forced to move by the residential neighbors (who complain about the volunteers walking dogs, excrement on the sidewalks, etc) I don't know the whole story (just what's in the sfgate link below) but it makes wonder if the residents had similar complaints about the pet store that was previously there. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/01/15/BAG6DNINS51.DTL Tammy __ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. Guest guest
Yes, I saw this on the 10 pm Channel 2 News and was meaning to post about it. The Milo Foundation had created a shelter/store (that's what the news report said), where they took in abandoned cats and dogs (maybe other creatures too, not sure), and there was some sort of commercial aspect to the project (probably just to meet their expenses). The Berkeley (I know, it's sad) neighbors complained that the Milo folks were letting the dogs poo at will on their lawns, etc. I find this a little hard to believe but have no evidence one way or another. does anyone have any more info on this? The Milo people Channel 2 interviewed denied they were letting the dogs go to the bathroom all over the place. At any rate, it's all something of a moot point now because all the complaining of the neighbors got the attention of the Berkeley government who decided that Milo was only a shelter and the area was not zoned for shelters and so Milo was told they had to leave. Does anyone have any updates on what's happening to all the animals or anything else about Milo? Fwiw, this really is a crying shame because I live in the East Bay and the location (Solano Ave.) was a really good one for foot-traffic, etc. Could have gotten a lot of animals good homes.
