I had posted about how to reduce wastage when rinsing and draining small grains (before cooking them). Just wanted to say thanks to the folks who quickly responded with some very helpful suggestions. I had felt a little embarrassed asking what was probably an obvious solution.

 

 

I'm not sure if all the responses were posted to the list, but if anyone else was wondering the same thing, some suggestions were: to use a fine-mesh strainer, a consommé strainer, a re-usable cheesecloth or a brown paper coffee filter.
