We are the Bay Area Vegetarians (general books) book club. We started meeting in January of 2006 and our plan is to meet 8 times a year to discuss books (mostly novels and occasionally interesting nonfiction or other types of books) over a vegan meal or snack.

We're currently a core, stable group of 6. Right now we have 5 women and 1 man, 5 vegans and 1 lacto-ovo vegetarian. 5 of us live in San Francisco and 1 of us lives in Santa Cruz. (We are planning to have one of our 2007 meetings at Dharmas in Capitola.) We all decide which books to read and where to meet each time, trying to choose books and meeting places a month or two or more in advance. We occasionally change our meeting dates/times in order to try to accommodate everyone's schedules; we're flexible in that way. We have a group email list for communication purposes and also have a phone number for everyone for same day cancellations and inquires. If you join us, you will participate with all the group members in choosing books and meeting places and dates to meet. One or more members can often help with transportation for another member - just ask.

For 2007, we would like to add 1 or 2 people to participate in our friendly book discussions over vegan food. You can be vegan, vegetarian, or an omnivore, but, as a group, we do eat (delicious!) vegan food only.
