Guest guest
Most of you in the Bay Area probably already know this, but just in case, here is a message from Karen P at PETA: Many of you may not be aware of this, but Hartz Mountain’s flea control products have a very deadly track record, having caused the deaths of thousands of cats and dogs. This has been going on since the mid-80s, but for some reason, the company has not been shut down and the products are still readily available. My next-door neighbor put Hartz flea drops on her two cats last night, and this morning, they both started having seizures. The one-and-a-half-year-old bit her tongue and lost so much blood that she died right after we got her to the vet. The 3-year-old is in intensive care—it took all day for them to get her to stop seizing—and she’ll be there for another two days. My young neighbor is heartbroken, and of course, she blames herself, even though she had no idea how dangerous Hartz products are. All the vets kept saying, “It’s not your fault.” The emergency vet said that they get three or four similar cases every day in the summer—they even have a name for it: “Hartz toxicity.” Please tell everyone you know about this. Thanks! Karen P
