Guest guest
just want to inform everyone the new place will not serve Gorilla meat, but it's a facticious name. They are selling beef, chicken and pork. I understand even if it's just the name it's not good.... The owners are Rich, Grady and Merril and tomorrow they will be serving their BBQ at Winters Tavern 1522 Francisco Blvd Pacifica, CA 94044 (650) 355-6162 They serve their BBQs every monday at the Bar to advertise their up and coming BBQ restaurant. I got this info from Arlene who works at the Bar. The owner have a soft heart, they did a BBQ fund raiser on 9/29 for a Motorcycle victim. Maybe get together with Amy to educate those " Gorillas " and they might have a heart for Gorillas. I don't think it's a nice name at all, but neither is the smelly other BBQ place, a Hawaiian BBQ place that's on Highway one. They do so much BBQ meat, that you can help but breathe their smoke while driving past the Hawaiian restaurant. Hey, the " flying pigs " restaurant has a bad name too... glad it went out of business in San Rafael. == If you have time to hear me vent.. I was at a Nicaraguna Restaurant on Mission & 26th Ave. They kept denying that their jambalya rice had chunks of chicken on it. It was unbelieveable that happened. The cook and waitress brought the food back to my table. (of course I didn't eat it) This is so unbelievable. == Two weeks ago, I went to a Chinese wedding that served one of the most expensive banquet dishes, except for one dish, the entire meal was ALL MEAT. This was so bad, that meat eaters were asking " where's the veggies? Where's the rice? " menu assorted meat platter with jelly fish Shark Fin Soup Cod Fish 2 lobsters 2 squab (pigeon) chicken shrimp with walnuts the only dish with veggie was abalone with greens It was a family event so I have to attend and watch everyone stuff their face for an hour. I was pretty much disgusted and snuck out of the table several times. == sign winnie, I will have a 10 course vegan belated Birthday dinner for $12 including tax and tip at Golden Era at Clement St, SF on Friday Oct 20 at 7pm. more details soon , " amylynncaplan " <amylynncaplan wrote: > > Dear Veggie Friends, > I would like your assistance in an immediate letter writing campaign to the Pacifica >
Guest guest
My response to the letter-writing request: Gorillas are huge (literally) vegetarians. They exist on mainly fruit. Occasionally they eat bugs but mainly exist on greens and fruits. Perhaps that is the reason for the name. If gorillas were to have a bar-b-que it would be vegan. So I think the name is rather clever. It just needs to a bit of explanation. Instead of asking that the restaurant owners change the name, which I think is actually quite clever in light of a gorilla's natural diet, maybe an explanation would be better. (Yes, I do understand gorillas have been known to take after the odd monkey. That is, I hear, rare.) What I mean by explanation is that maybe something in the restaurant, posted, which talks about gorillas, their habitats, their diets, the danger they are under now in terms of survival; would do more to enlighten people about the gorilla's situation than would a restaurant name change. Thanks for listening. Jean sunny_outdoors <sunny_outdoors wrote: just want to inform everyone the new place will not serve Gorilla meat, but it's a facticious name.
