Guest guest
As read on: http://www.peta.org/actioncenter/ActionAlerts-item.asp? id=2037 Urge Six Flags to Host Fright Fest Without Frightening Animals! On September 29, 12 Six Flags locations will begin hosting a ridiculously cruel promotion to kick off their October " Fright Fest " events. Guests will be invited to " eat their way to the front of the line " by consuming live Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Cockroaches may get a bad rap, but these gentle, complex, sensitive animals do not deserve to be eaten alive, especially not for a gratuitous marketing gimmick. Given the proliferation of violence in today's society, it is imperative that we teach compassion for all living beings instead of publicly encouraging cruelty to and devaluation of animals. No animal should ever suffer or die in the name of entertainment. Consuming cockroaches also presents various health risks, including gastrointestinal illnesses and allergies. Please contact Six Flags, Inc., and demand that it either replace this hideous promotion with a humane alternative or cancel it altogether: Mark Shapiro, President, CEO, and Director Six Flags, Inc. 122 E. 42nd St. New York, NY 10168 212-599-4960 212-949-6203 (fax) guestrelations Thanks for your support, Kimberly
Guest guest
UGH, their response is equally revolting. i will be responding again to tell them that the " everyone else is doing it " is not a valid response. " Thank you for contacting us and voicing your thoughts about our Fright Fest promotion involving cockroaches. We appreciate and respect your viewpoint. This optional, entirelyvoluntary stunt is just one aspect of our evening Fright Fest activitiesand promotions. Every park has many activities geared towards families during the day and an equal number of " scarier " Halloween-themedactivities at night for the adult guests who comprise a large part ofFright Fest at night. This stunt is directed toward that evening audience for a short period of time during the launch of our Fright Festactivites, and is not intended for everyone. It is true that cockroaches are insects and provide nutritional valuejust like chicken, beef and the live organisms (probiotic) found in some yogurts. Many other outlets, including popular television reality showsand cookbooks, promote the eating of cockroaches and other insects, asdo numerous international cultures.Again, we thank you for sharing your thoughts on this subject. " -- M. Mello " This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one.
