Guest guest
Hi All, I recently learned that my father was diagnosed with (Stage 1) prostate cancer. I'm really not surprised, since his favorite sandwich is called a Belly Buster, which consists of mayo, cheese, egg, ham, sausage, and bacon. Note: there is no family history of prostate cancer- so genetics for the most part are out. He's always thought my vegan diet was crazy, until NOW! He would like to change his diet and lifestyle before pursing any medical treatments. As you might know, I teach the monthly vegan baking class. I'd like my father to fly out to visit me and I will give him a one-week crash course on vegan living. However, I think it would be wonderful, if I could find at least 3-4 men who've been diagnosed with prostate cancer who've went vegan and/or women who've been diagnosed with colon cancer to meet my father. I'd like to host a dinner at my house in Mill Valley. You will not only have an opportunity to taste my amazing vegan dessert, but I will also prepare a fabulous vegan dinner. Please let me know if you would be interested or anyone else would be interested. I would also greatly appreciate any suggestions for SF medical doctors specializing in prostate cancer who can provide a second opinion or treatment options. I know I've meet people at Marin Veg Dinners who've had colon or prostate cancer and went vegan, so I know you are out there. :-) Thank you very much! Guest guest
Hi folks,Christine, and anyone else interested, check out The Cancer Project. It is a non-profit, affiliated with PCRM. They offer free cooking classes in the Bay Area and across the U.S. to cancer survivors."The Cancer Project is a collaborative effort of physicians, researchers, and nutritionists who have joined together to educate individuals, families, and the public on the benefits of a healthy diet for cancer prevention and survival."http://www.cancerproject.org/Thanks,Tammy __ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
