Guest guest
Hello folks, There's a super event happening at Animal Place ( a nonprofit sanctuary for animals rescued from factory farming; some consider it a sanctuary for humans, too ) that I wanted to invite you all to attend. It is their Animal Awareness Workshop, and it is Saturday October 7 from 12:00-3:00 pm (a tour is offered at the end of the workshop). From Animal Place: We will cover the natural behaviors and history of commonly farmed animals - cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, sheep and goats. Learn why pigs wallow in mud, how incredible a sheep's memory is, and delve into the complex vocalizations of chickens. Find out the difference between a "beef" cow and a "dairy" cow, and discover how much animals are used in our society. We will also discuss how factory farming affects these animals and what you can do to help. From animal mistreatment to environmental concerns, gain knowledge of how factory farming affects the animals, the earth and you. Ages: 12 and up Fee: $15.00 To register: Visit http://www.animalplace.org/ef.html or contact info Kim Sturla, the director and co-founder of Animal Place, will also be speaking at our World Farm Animals Day event on 10/1 in San Mateo. So if you can't make this event, that's also a great opportunity to learn more about Animal Place, their critters, and how your choices can help animals, every day. http://bayareaveg.org/wfad Please tell the critters at Animal Place hello for me. Especially Chester & Claire, the rescued piglets we met during the BAVeg tour earlier this year. And, if you stay for the tour after, Animal Place allows you to bring treats for the animals. My suggestion: grapes for the chickens. You can read more what others have to say about Animal Place in reviews in the Ultimate Guide Cheers, Tammy http://www.generationv.org/2006/06/20/rescued_pigs http://www.generationv.org/2006/06/04/animalplace_2006 World Farm Animals Day event - Sun Oct 1st - Cooking Demos, Food Samples, Presentations, FREEwww.bayareaveg.org/wfad
