Power to the Peaceful / Solano Stroll: awesome weekend outreach

Hi folks,Rachel, thanks for sharing an update on Solano Stroll; I enjoyed reading it. It's great to hear the information was so well received! This is the second year that Bay Area Veg organized an info table. Kudos to Alicia for stepping up to organize this year, and we'd like to also give a big thanks to everyone who helped! I wanted to post an update about BAV outreach at Power to the Peaceful on Sunday. This was our first year at the event. Through leafleting alone, our plant-powered volunteer crew distributed 2100 Why Vegan / Even if You Like Meat booklets. We also distributed hundreds of other leaflets, like How we treat the animals we eat, PETA's think before you eat & Veg Starter Kits. Leafleting to a stead stream of folks flowing by was super easy, and people were receptive. So many people personally told me "I already have one", and I actually believed them (as opposed to people using that as a polite way to decline). Several folks commented that were already veg, and a few thanked us for being there (even non-veg people)I think we may have reached at least 10% of the crowd by leafleting .. We also had an info table which raised consciousness about how awful animals are treated in factory farms, distributed veg info, and served as a base for resupplying leafleters.A big thanks to Ari, Alex, Amy, Nora, Njeri, and Py for their help in our efforts! Ari & Alex even recruited their family to help :-) Special thanks to George who helped us set-up in the morning and came back to help us take down and carry everything back to the car. I agree with Amy's recent post; a big area for improvement is to help the organizers realize the connection between peace and veg*nism.Cheers,Tammy & Chris
