Hi folks

It's never too late to go back to school, ESPECIALLY when you're participating in Vegan Outreach's Adopt a College program! The goal of this program is to get veg*n information into the hand of young, open-minded students. Convincing a student to go veg*n is one of the best ways to reduce animal suffering. After all, a lifetime of eating veg*n can prevent a lot of animal suffering/slaughter. With this program, every bit of leafleting helps to give exposure to the tremendous cruelty and suffering involved in factory farming.

I am very inspired by the effectiveness of this program and others who will leaflet regularly for hours every day or every month. Even though I don't have that much time, I still make time to try to do this once a month for 30 minutes during a lunch hour. Although 30 minutes does not sound like much, I can distribute about 100 booklets. So if you're like me and don't have large amounts of time, I just wanted to share that leafleting is effective with short amounts of time. And if you have more time, even better!

The Adopt a College program is a project of Vegan Outreach, a non-profit dedicated to reducing animal suffering. They have a great website filled with more information and practical essays about effective advocacy. It's easy and free to register/participate. If there's not a college near you during daytime, many colleges have evening classes. You can also support this program by donating to support someone else's outreach (VO gets request all the time from people for literature).

WHY VEGAN is one of the brochures printed by Vegan Outreach that talks about different reasons to go vegan. Many people think this is the single most effective piece of literature to leaflet with. Decide for yourself and read everything online at

http://www.veganhealth.org/colleges

In response to people saying "I like meat!", Vegan Outreach developed a different brochure called "EVEN IF YOU LIKE MEAT".

For anyone who is interested in leafleting, but has never leafleted before, if you would be interested in a practice leafleting session, please let me know. I'm not an expert, but I have gotten more comfortable doing it. And there are several folks who really excel at it. There is also a special list for folks participating in the AAC outreach, and they are very helpful/supportive if you have questions.

So, if you are looking for an effective way to spend 30-60 minutes, leafleting at a college is one of the best ways to help. From a numbers perspective, more farmed animals die or suffer for "food" production than in any other animal exploitation. So.... please, think about leafleting a college near you! And better yet, when you do, post an email and give someone else an opportunity to join you!

Cheers,Tammy

Hi All,

I would love

to do this at Napa

Valley College.

I work in Napa,

and would be willing to commit to an hour every week or every other week –

at lunch time.

Since I’ve

never done this before, are there any vegs out there in the Napa area who would be willing to meet and do

this with me, as a team?

Or Cal

Maritime in Vallejo

– however, I think they have a gated entry, so not sure if we could do it

there. I could also do Diablo

Valley College

in the evening – but that lessens the impact (the college is swarming at

lunch).

Thanks,

Meghann
