Guest guest
Hello, Back on August 13th, we wrote to the lists that we would like to start a meet-up group for veg*ns and aspiring veg*ns who would like to get together to talk about both the inspiring and challenging aspects of being veg in a non-veg and speciesist world. We were glad that many people responded enthusiastically to the idea. Well, we've finally decided on a meeting date and place. While we tried to accommodate everyone's needs as far as scheduling, location, etc., we finally just had to make a decision, and here's what we've come up with. What: Veg*n/aspiring veg*n meet-up groupWhen: Sunday, September 10th at 2:00 p.m.Where: New World Vegetarian Restaurant, 464 8th Street, Oakland. - Map: http://tinyurl.com/m8nzk - Directions from 12th St. Oakland City Center Station BART: http://tinyurl.com/z9wdj While we have scheduled this first meeting on a Sunday in the East Bay, we are open to having meetings on Saturdays in other locations in the future. As of now, there is only one requirement for participation: because we are striving to create a safe environment for veg*ns – who too often have to deal with hostility from a meat-eating world – participants MUST be vegan or vegetarian or sincerely aspire to be vegan or vegetarian. This group is NOT appropriate for people who are not sincerely interested in veg*nsm. For the animals, Melissa and Mat
