Guest guest
On Sunday afternoon two newborn kittens, with umbilical cords still attached, were found in a backyard. We tried to entice the mom (whoever she is, IF she is still hanging around) into a humane trap, using the kittens as bait , but had no luck. We're bottle feeding the kittens every two hours but everyone is telling me that newborn kittens will not survive UNLESS they have a mother cat to nurse from, either their own or a surrogate mom, at the very least for the first 10 days. Does anyone know of a mother cat who could help out these two? Of course, there are no guarantees that a mother cat will accept two new kittens, but it does work more often than not, so it's worth a try. We are in touch with Animal Care & Control to see if a nursing mom is brought in there, but in the meantime I'm reaching out for help. If you know of such a cat, please call me at (415) 743-2433 (work, 8:30-6) or 415/221-3618 (home) or 415/846-1362 (cell) -- if there's no answer, please leave messages at any or all of those numbers -- when I'm not at work, I'm on the go, but I do check my messages often. Or you can email me at nmay during the day, Tuesday-Friday. Thank you!!!! Nadine
