Vegan teacher seeking animal magazines for kids

Hi there,

I'm a vegan teacher with a class of 30 special education students MIDDLE SCHOOL

(ages

12-14) who are struggling readers and are not at grade level. Most of them read

at the

4th-6th grade level.

I'm looking for back issues of the Fund for Animals magazine " Animal Crusaders "

or " Kind

News " for grades 3-4 or 5-6 and/or any other easy-to-read materials that I can

easily

copy. I am not interested in primary reading level materials.

Unfortunately, I can not have materials that are specifically pro-veg or have a

strong

vegan/veg slant as my kids are mostly Latino and Filipino and I will definitely

get in

trouble with my administrator. So, no PETA stuff. I'm new at my school and

don't want to

lose my job!

So, basically I'm looking for humane education materials where kids can learn

about the

environment and animals without hearing the activist veg message.

If you have back issues you are willing to part with, please email me.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Amy Lynn:

I am an outreach volunteer for Farm Sanctuary here in the Bay Area. I do

not have any grade 3 - 6 materials on hand, but Farm Sanctuary does have

such materials. I think the materials Farm Sanctuary provides are more

in-line with your desired emphasis than most AR or Veg materials. Take a

look at:

http://www.farmsanctuary.org/media/pr_teach.htm

The folks at headquarters are happy to provide multiple copies to teachers

like you free of charge. You can email them at info.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
