Guest guest
Hi folks For the new veg folks, just a heads-up, when ordering in "mixed" restaurants, even if the entree section says "vegetarian", always ask whether the broth or sauce in the dish has chicken, beef, or fish/oyster extracts. This seems especially problematic in Thai food. The explanation that I was given by one restaurant owner is that they use already prepared, "authentic"/imported sauces that contain those animal ingredients. And, for those wishing to avoid eggs, if you also enjoy fortune cookies, sorry to disappoint you, but I believe that most of the ones commonly served in veg*n restaurants contain eggs. Always best to ask the individual restaurant. Cheers, Tammy Bay Area Vegetarianswww.BayAreaVeg.org
Guest guest
The same applies to seaweed salads in sushi restaurants and at grocery stores. I learned the hard way... :-( -Rose
