Guest guest
A few weeks ago we had a discussion on the list about the pros and cons of soy. The cover story in today's SF Chronicle Magazine was, " The Great Soy Scam: Manufacturing a Health Obsession. " If you only read the first part of the article, you would think that soy should be avoided. Kaayla Daniel is quoted on the many risks of soy. She even blames the early onset of puberty in girls on estrogen in soy infant formula. No mention of all the estrogen in meat and milk, which are much more widely consumed, of course. (One of the other " experts " questions her credentials, which I found interesting.) But if you keep reading to the end of the article (several pages), the final message is that there have been many studies on soy, most of which show not much benefit or risk in consuming it. Those are not the studies that get the publicity, though. Karen
