Members of the group are lobbying customers of Andronico's Market, the upscale 10-store regional chain based in Albany, to put pressure on company officials to stop selling eggs laid by hens they say are housed in small " battery cages. " The cages hold anywhere from six to 10 birds, according to East Bay Animal Advocates spokeswoman Christine Morrissey. She claims living conditions at egg supplier NuCal are so confined that the birds can't even flap their wings.
