Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control

As part of the " Dog Days of Summer " Fair in Duboce Park, the Friends of San

Francisco Animal Care and Control (FSFACC) will be offering microchips for

dogs -- FREE to San Francisco residents and only $15 for nonresidents.

The Fair, sponsored by Duboce Dogs and SFDOG, will run from noon to 3 p.m.

on Saturday, August 12. Duboce Park runs along Duboce Avenue in San

Francisco, between Scott and Steiner Streets (one block from Market, Castro

and Fillmore).

San Francisco dogs to be microchipped must have current licenses, which will

also be available from Animal Care and Control (ACC) at the Fair. For dogs

needing up-to-date rabies vaccinations FSFACC will be offering those as well

for only $5 a shot. Dogs must be at least three months old and on leash. A

minimum donation of $10 per dog microchipped (cash or check) is suggested.

Please do not bring cats or other animals to the park.

The free or low-cost microchipping includes enrollment of the dog

caregiver's contact info at ACC. National enrollment will also be available

for only $6.25 per dog via a form that the caregiver mails in after the

clinic. ACC uses the HomeAgain microchip system, which is also used by most

animal shelters in the Bay Area.

Even if your dog doesn't need a microchip, rabies vaccination or license,

dog lovers should come to the fair to enjoy agility, flyball, Frisbee and

Rally-O demonstrations and instruction by The SF/SPCA; Canine Good Citizen

testing by Beverly Ulbrich, " The Pooch Coach; " an information booth by

Norcal Waste on their " Dog-Poop-to-Energy " program; local vendors, including

Pet Food Express (which will be opening a flagship store at Market and

Dolores in the former Gap location on August 26); dogs available for

adoption; and refreshments courtesy of Duboce Park Cafe, among others.

For more information on the microchipping and rabies vaccination clinic call

FSFACC at (415) 822-5566 or go to http://fsfacc.org/Calendar.htm.
