I

know vegan soap isn’t that hard to find in San Francisco, but I want

to share a sweet discovery.

California

Cove Designs is an internet mail-order soap company:

www.californiacovedesigns.com

They

donated 2,500 bars of soap for PETA’s 25th Anniversary Gala

last September, which is why I ended up trying them. Their soaps are

fantastic, and even better, they donate 100% of their

proceeds to help animals! Everything they sell is vegan and

cruelty-free—they’re super strict about it. Every bar of soap

is hand-made, lathers wonderfully, smells heavenly, and the gift soaps are

beautifully packaged. I was a very popular daughter this last

Mother’s Day. J The orders

ship out very fast.

Here

is one part of their mission statement:

California Cove

Designs focuses on beautiful cruelty-free creations.

All profits are donated to causes that help

abused animals, in an

effort to make the world a better place.

I

thought BAV folks might enjoy this company, because it’s a

nice way to splurge (affordably) while supporting compassion for animals at the

same time. I think our dollars do make a difference,

and since I have to use soap every day, I like knowing that my money

is

going to a good cause and not paying for any animal ingredients.

Alex

p.s.

If

you don’t like faux animal products, don’t read

past this line.

You can now order vegan whipped cream

from Pangea:

It’s

still

not exactly health food, but it’s healthier than buying vegan-from-chemicals

Cool Whip.

Best

yet: You can now

get vegan caviar and it’s *excellent!*

Absolutely scrumptious. Some vegan blinis or dark bread, vegan

sour cream, vegan champagne from Organic Wine Company…that special

evening you’ve been worrying about is taken care of.

And

once again, a great company to support (Food Fight in Portland).
